The St. Dunstan's Ceiling Drum is a flush-mounted light built from painted iron in an octagonal drum form with quatrefoil openwork side panels and a frosted glass diffuser across the bottom. The photo shows it in Black Iron Patina, the darker of the two finishes we make it in; it's also offered in Standard Paint. The openwork panels let light out the sides and keep the fixture from reading as a plain drum.
We build it the way we've built fixtures since 1957: fabricated construction rather than die-cast, which gives the frame structural integrity that cast alternatives can't match. Each panel is cut to specification, the quatrefoil pattern is formed by hand, and the finished frame is painted, sealed with clear lacquer, then electrically assembled and tested before it leaves the shop.
