Historic Restoration - award winning project
University of Virginia
Designed by Thomas Jefferson, The Rotunda at the University of Virginia stands as the majestic centerpiece of the UVA Academical Village, undergoing a comprehensive restoration and renovation from 2012 under the expert guidance of John G. Waite Associates, Architects. Crenshaw Lighting was privileged to restore an array of historic fixtures, including elegant two-tier brass chandeliers, pendants, and globe pendants, meticulously disassembling each piece, stripping finishes to bare metal, cleaning, and polishing the brass to a radiant finish, followed by a UV-stable clear coat to ensure longevity. Our team also repaired and straightened deteriorated fixtures, crafted historically accurate replications to complement existing designs, and replaced all electrical components—sockets, connectors, fasteners, and wiring—securing a new UL listing, preserving the Rotunda’s timeless neoclassical splendor with unparalleled craftsmanship and precision.
