At Crenshaw Lighting, our commitment to safety, quality, and performance is exemplified through our in-house NRTL Certified Manufacturer’s Testing Laboratory, accredited under ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Recognized by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) under OSHA’s Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) program, our facility in Floyd, Virginia, is fully equipped to conduct comprehensive testing and listing onsite, including co-witness procedures that enhance validation accuracy. Additionally, we are authorized by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to apply UL labels for general coverage, ensuring our luminaires meet the highest industry standards while providing customers with reliable assurances of compliance and durability. Established in the 1970s by OSHA to promote fair competition among testing agencies, the NRTL program replaced Underwriters Laboratories (UL) as the sole certifier in the United States. Today, approximately a dozen NRTLs operate, with UL remaining the most prominent. Alongside the Association of Standardization and Certification (ANCE), UL sets the rigorous UL1598 safety standards for lighting manufacturers, delivering benefits such as enhanced product safety and reduced liability risks for end-users. As part of the NRTL program’s anti-trust framework, civic agencies are prohibited from favoring one NRTL over another when issuing permits or contracts, ensuring impartiality and fostering a level playing field that supports innovation in the industry. Every luminaire crafted by Crenshaw is NRTL-listed unless otherwise specified, adhering strictly to UL1598 safety standards and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, which translates to superior performance and longevity for our clients' installations. Our testing and laboratory processes go beyond compliance, verifying that ballasts, drivers, and electrical components operate within manufacturer warranty specifications for heat and performance, thereby maximizing luminaire longevity and offering value through reduced maintenance costs and extended service life.
