Historical Restoration - replication
Minnesota State Capitol
As part of the five-year comprehensive restoration of the Minnesota State Capitol, Crenshaw was selected as key supplier of historic lighting. This substantial project entailed historic restoration and replication of more than 1,100 historic fixtures and 78 fixture types to museum-quality standards for the iconic 378,000-square-foot building. This included monumental restored and replicated torchieres of solid brass construction and hand-applied patina to match existing historic fixtures, replicated and restored brass fixtures, and resin-cast fixtures. Integrated LED lamping was used to modernize the majority of the fixtures while preserving the historic nature of this landmark building.
Crenshaw provided extensive design assistance in defining scope, materials, and engineering for electrical/lamping solutions, and worked closely with the specification group, keeping our design and engineering team fully engaged until completion.
