Palentine Ceiling Mount

The Palentine Ceiling Mount is an octagonal flush fixture fabricated from brass with fan cut-out panels. The openwork is cut into the brass sheet before the body is welded, so the pattern is part of the structure rather than an applied overlay. It mounts flush to the ceiling with no drop, stem, or chain, takes candelabra lamps, and is offered in six finishes: Standard Paint, Polished Brass, Satin Brass, Aged Brass Patina, Antique Bronze Patina, and Oil-Rubbed Bronze Patina. The product photo shows one finish; the others are the same fabricated octagonal body, finished differently.

Two sizes are available. Small fits standard residential ceilings in hallways, powder rooms, and smaller rooms; Large covers a wider ceiling area and suits larger entries and open spaces. The lamping can be ordered as socketed - candelabra base, lamps not included - or as an integral 3000K LED source so the fixture runs without purchasing bulbs.

Because the body sits flat against the ceiling, the fan cut-outs are where the light does its work: the lamps shine up and out through the open panels, and the pattern they throw onto the ceiling and the walls below is part of what the fixture is for. The low profile also makes the Palentine Ceiling Mount the practical choice in rooms with low ceilings, where a pendant would drop into the sight line.

An earlier version of this page carried the line "built to outlast fixtures made from lesser materials." We have dropped that comparison. The fixture is fabricated brass that is cut, formed, welded, and finished by hand in our shop, and we would rather describe the construction than rate other manufacturers' work.

Manufacturing

Each Palentine Ceiling Mount is made in our Floyd, Virginia workshop. The fan cut-out pattern is cut from brass sheet, the octagonal body is formed to specification, and the body is welded. It is then hand-polished or hand-satined depending on the selected finish, patinated where the finish specification calls for it, and sealed with a clear lacquer coat. The electrical assembly is fitted, and the fixture is tested on the line before it ships.
