Manchester Sconce

The Manchester Sconce is a tapered, multi-sided lantern with a domed bell-shaped cap and ball finial, mounted to the wall on a flat vertical backplate. The frame is fabricated from painted metal members with vertical mullions that hold white opal glass panels, and scrolled work beneath the lantern body adds traditional ornamentation. It is offered in Polished Brass, Satin Brass, Aged Brass Patina, Antique Bronze Patina, and Oil-Rubbed Bronze Patina finishes. The lantern is assembled from individual formed and welded components rather than a die-cast body, which is what lets it carry the mullioned glass and scrollwork.

Each Manchester Sconce is built in our Floyd, Virginia workshop. The lantern frame, cap, and backplate are fabricated from individual metal members that are precision-cut, bent, and formed using traditional metalworking techniques, then joined with careful welding; the opal glass panels are set into the frame and the scrolled base is attached. All components are hand-finished for the selected finish and sealed with clear lacquer. The fixture is electrically assembled to UL standards and tested before shipping.

Manufacturing Process

Each Manchester Sconce is fabricated in our Floyd, Virginia workshop. Metal sheet and plate stock is cut to pattern using precision shearing operations, then bent and formed using traditional metalworking techniques, then joined with careful welding. The domed cap and finial require precise alignment of all structural members before final assembly, and the glass panels are fitted one at a time. Each component is hand-finished, polished, satined, or patinated for the selected finish, then sealed with clear lacquer. The fixture is electrically assembled, tested, and packed for shipping.
