Kirkstall Lantern Pendant

The Kirkstall is a rectangular lantern pendant in painted metal, built around a Moorish-influenced form: pointed-arch openings on the sides, corner finials at the top of the frame, and a finial at the base. The ornament is cut, fitted, and finished by hand in our Floyd, Virginia workshop rather than pressed from a single mold. It is offered in two sizes, and both use the same pointed-arch panel pattern.

The body is fabricated from painted metal stock and offered in two finishes: Standard Paint and Black iron Patina. The product photo shows one of the two; the fixture is available in either finish and receives the same fabrication, hand-finishing, and electrical work regardless of which is ordered.

Manufacturing Process

Each Kirkstall is fabricated to specification in our Floyd, Virginia workshop. The rectangular frame is cut, formed, and welded from painted metal stock; the pointed-arch openings are cut and fitted individually, and the corner and base finials are set in place one at a time. Because the body is built up from flat stock, there are no cast parting lines on the surface. After fabrication, the fixture is finished to order, painted or patinated by hand, and sealed with clear lacquer. Patina is applied in controlled passes and worked in until the tone is even across every welded joint. The lantern is then wired, electrically tested, and inspected for finish and mechanical soundness before it is crated for shipment.
