Clermont Bowl Pendant

The Clermont Bowl Pendant is formed from water-jet cut aluminum sheet with cast applique at the bottom, and it is offered in a single finish: Standard Paint, a painted finish over the aluminum body. The product photo shows the painted fixture - a sheet-metal frame holding a bowl shade - and that is the whole construction: cut and formed sheet, no bar stock, no tube.

We have corrected this page on that point. An earlier version of the copy claimed that "solid bar stock gives structural integrity that hollow alternatives can't match." The fixture's own specification lists water-jet cut aluminum sheet, and the photo shows a sheet-metal frame, so the bar stock line was not accurate and is gone. The Clermont is cut, formed, and painted, and it is built with the same techniques we use on our restoration work in the shop.

The fixture is named after a church in England by Woody and Jackie Crenshaw. Water-jet cutting lets the frame geometry be made from sheet without cast parts, and the cast applique at the bottom is a separate part fitted into the frame. The bowl shade carries a white acrylic lens, and the painted frame is what you see from the side and below.

Since the only offered finish is Standard Paint, the body is not polished, satined, or patinated the way the brass fixtures are - the painted surface over the aluminum is the finished surface, applied in the shop before the fixture is electrically assembled.

Two sizes are available. The lamping can be ordered with medium-base lamp sockets, lamps not included, or with an integral 3000K LED source so the pendant runs without purchasing bulbs. The fixture is wired for 120V.

Manufacturing

Each Clermont Bowl Pendant is fabricated in our Floyd, Virginia workshop. The frame is water-jet cut from aluminum sheet to specification, formed, and assembled; the cast applique is fitted at the bottom; the painted finish is applied; and the fixture is electrically assembled and tested on the line before it ships.
