Calanais Wall Sconce

The Calanais Wall Sconce is a wall-mounted fixture fabricated from brass in our Floyd, Virginia workshop. The form is an open frame, not a closed shade: four vertical brass rods rise from a pierced collar toward the ceiling, leaving the light sources exposed. There is no glass, acrylic, or diffuser on this fixture. The spec sheet previously listed a 'Lens: White acrylic', and that claim has been removed so the specification matches what the fixture actually is: an open, pierced brass cage, with the lamps visible inside the rod frame. The open frame is intentional; the sconce is meant to be read as structure, with the lamps working in the open.

Fabricated brass is what gives the fixture its character and its durability. The rods and the pierced collar are made from brass rather than die-cast, so every piece is individually cut, fitted, and inspected. A fabricated frame can be repaired and reworked; a die-cast body cannot.

The sconce is offered in five finishes: Polished Brass, Satin Brass, Aged Brass Patina, Antique Bronze Patina, and Oil-Rubbed Bronze Patina. The photo shows one finish; each unit is hand-finished to the finish you order.

The body is fabricated to specification in our Floyd, Virginia workshop. The pierced collar is cut to pattern, the rods are formed and fitted, and the frame is assembled before finishing. Each piece is hand-polished or satined, patinated where the finish requires it, and sealed with clear lacquer. Electrical assembly and testing happen on the bench before the fixture leaves the shop.

• Each Calanais Wall Sconce is fabricated from brass, shaped to specification, individually hand-polished or satined, patinated where specified, and sealed with clear lacquer, then electrically assembled and tested.

• Professional installation is recommended due to weight. Mounting hardware and detailed instructions are included. Because the frame is open, your lamp choice is visible; if the open look is not right for the room, pair the sconce with frosted or opal bulbs to soften the direct light.
