Bronx Globe Pendant

The Bronx Globe Pendant is a four-light pendant fabricated from brass sheet and offered in five finishes: Polished Brass, Satin Brass, Aged Brass Patina, Antique Bronze Patina, and Oil-Rubbed Bronze Patina. The product photo shows the Oil-Rubbed Bronze Patina version; the other four finishes are the same fabricated form, finished differently.

The fixture is a hand-rolled, hand-welded brass cage rather than a die-cast part. In practice that means there are no mold lines or casting parting seams, and the ribs are formed pieces of sheet metal that can be reworked if a weld needs correction.

What the photo shows is an open ribbed globe. Brass sheet is formed into vertical ribs around a spherical cage and welded at the junctions, and no glass globe is fitted. The four lamps sit exposed inside the cage, and the exposed look is the design: the ribs shape the light and mask the socket hardware from most viewing angles. One honest note about the glass: the previous version of this specification listed a white opal glass globe, but no glass globe appears in the product photo, and we would rather not describe a part we cannot see on the fixture. We are listing the Bronx Globe here as an open ribbed globe cage; if an opal globe does ship with this fixture we will say so on this page, and it is worth confirming before you order.

The five finishes share the same fabrication; only the surface treatment changes. Polished Brass is mirror-bright. Satin Brass is abraded to a matte, low-gloss surface. The three patina finishes - Aged Brass, Antique Bronze, and Oil-Rubbed Bronze - start on a satin base, and a chemical patina is then applied by hand to the specified tone, one fixture at a time, so the finish varies slightly from piece to piece. Every finish is sealed with a clear lacquer coat that locks the tone and keeps the surface stable.

Manufacturing

Each Bronx Globe Pendant is made in our Floyd, Virginia workshop. The ribs are formed from brass sheet, set around the spherical frame, and welded to specification. The cage is then hand-polished or hand-satined depending on the selected finish, patinated where the finish specification calls for it, and sealed with clear lacquer. The wiring, four sockets, and canopy are assembled, and the fixture is electrically tested on the line before it ships.
