Berrington Ceiling Bowl

The Berrington Ceiling Bowl is a flush ceiling fixture formed from brass sheet with welded joints, shaped and welded in our Floyd, Virginia workshop rather than stamped or die-cast. It is offered in six finishes: Standard Paint, Polished Brass, Satin Brass, Aged Brass Patina, Antique Bronze Patina, and Oil-Rubbed Bronze Patina. The product photo shows the faceted flush bowl; the other finishes are the same formed brass body, finished differently.

One correction on this page: an earlier version of the copy claimed that "solid bar stock gives structural integrity that hollow alternatives can't match." That line was not accurate for this fixture and contradicted our own specification. The Berrington is formed brass sheet with welded joints, and that is the correct description. Formed sheet with well-executed welded seams is the same construction we use on the restoration work in our shop: the sheet is formed to the bowl profile, the panels meet at the faceted joints visible in the photo, and the welds are finished so the seam lines read as design lines rather than construction marks.

The form is a low, wide bowl that mounts flush to the ceiling. The bowl opens upward, so the lamps throw light up into the ceiling and reflect it around the room, and nothing drops below the ceiling plane except the bowl itself. Two sizes are available: Small is the closer fit for hallways, entries, and smaller rooms, and Large covers more ceiling area and suits dining rooms and larger open spaces. Either size can be ordered with medium-base lamp sockets, lamps not included, or with an integral 3000K LED source so the fixture runs without purchasing bulbs.

The brass versions are hand-polished or hand-satined depending on the selected finish, patinated where the finish specification calls for it, and sealed with a clear lacquer coat. The Standard Paint version is painted as part of the same finishing step. All bodies are electrically assembled and tested on the line before they ship.
